Great Ways to Serve "Chutney"

  1. A FRUITY SPICY CHUTNEY IS A GREAT COMPLIMENT TO MEATS, VEGETABLES, RICE AND PASTA
  2. CHUTNEY MAY BE USED AS SAUCE FOR GRILL
  3. ADD SOME CHUTNEY TO SOUR CREAM OR YOGURT TO MAKE A DIP, SERVE WITH FRESH CUT-UP VEGETABLES, TACO CHIPS OR CRACKERS
  4. THIN CHUTNEY WITH YOUR FAVOURITE WINE OR FRUIT JUICES AND USE AS A MARINADE OR BASTING MEAT OR VEGETABLES
  5. MAY ADD SOME CHUTNEY TO SOUP FOR ZESTY TASTE
  6. ADD CHUTNEY TO STIR FRY
  7. ADD SOME CHUTNEY TO A SANDWICH
  8. SERVE CHUTNEY AS A DIPPING SAUCE for Chicken wings, chicken fingers  SAMOSA, PAKORA,  Pizza or any other finger foods.
  9. LOTS OF GREENS WITH GRILLED CHICKEN STRIPS AND CHUTNEY AS TOPPING MAKES A GOURMET SALAD
  10. Serve cream cheese crackers with a dab of Chutney as h’orderves.
  11. SPICY SALAD DRESSING--ADD ½ CUP OF RED WINE VINEGAR, ½ CUP OF APPLE CHUTNEY, ½ CUP OF OLIVE OIL, 1TSP OF TOBASCO SAUCE, 1-TBSP OF SUGAR, ¼ TSP SALT, 1-TSP FINELY CHOPPED CILANTRO OR PARSELY. SHAKE WELL AND REFRIGERATE.
  12. Baked Brae with chutney taste sumptuous.
  13. Chutney may be used for Fondue.
  14. Add chutney as a basting to roast a few minutes before removing from oven.

TANDOORI BBQ


1.75 kg of skinless chicken, lamb, pork, beef or fish steaks
1 package of Chatty's Tandoori BBQ Seasoning Mix
125 ml of plain yogurt

50 ml vegetable oil

Make several incisions in the meat or fish. In a large bowl, mix Chatty's Tandoori BBQ seasoning mix, yogurt and oil. Add meat. Cover and marinate 4 to 8 hours in the refrigerator. BBQ or broil, basting and turning occasionally. Serve with your favourite rice, vegetable and salad. Serves 6.


CHICKEN CURRY

1.75 kg of chicken
175 ml plain yogurt
1 package of Chatty's Chicken Curry Seasoning Mix
50 ml vegetable oil
1 large finely chopped onion

125 ml warm water

Cut chicken into pieces and remove skin. In a large bowl, mix yogurt and Chatty's Chicken Curry Seasoning mix. Add Chicken. Cover and marinate for 30 minutes. (For best results marinate 4 to 8 hours in the refrigerator). In a large saucepan, heat oil and brown onion. Stir in chicken. Cook 15 minutes on medium heat. Add warm water and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and cook for 30 minutes (or until chicken is tender), stirring occasionally. Serve with your favourite rice, vegetable and salad. Serves 6.


CALCUTTA CURRY

4 x 14 fluid oz cans of chick peas, black eyed beans or kidney beans (drain brine)
1/4 cup (50 ml) vegetable oil
1 large finely chopped onion
14 fluid oz can crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce
1 package of Chatty's Calcutta Curry Seasoning Mix

1 cup (250 ml) water

In a large sauce pan, heat oil and brown onion. Add crushed tomatoes or tomato sauce. Add Chatty's Calcutta Curry seasoning mix. Cook on medium heat 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add water and bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat to simmer and cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with your favourite rice, bread and salad. Serves 6.
Meat: Substitute 1 kg (2.2 pounds) cubed beef or lamb for chick peas or beans. Follow above instructions except simmer and cook for 45 minutes.
